Those who have first-hand experienced the effects of the Marcellus shale drilling industry in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia have stories to tell.

The Allegheny Front shared some photos from the Marcellus Shale Documentary Project that tell those stories, including the hardships some residents have faced as water wells were contaminated, rail cars carrying liquefied natural gas pulled up close to homes and acres of land cleared for pipelines.

You can also listen to an interview with one of the curators of the Marcellus Shale Documentary Project exhibit.
