According to Midwest Energy News, Carroll County, Ohio has seen economic improvement through the oil and gas companies, but the region has also seen negative effects from fracking.
The Policy Matters Ohio report shows that jobs have been added through the shale industry in Carroll County, but not as many as were originally predicted. Oil and gas companies are doing business locally, including visiting restaurants and lodging in local hotels, but have also been one of the reasons that the price of rental properties has risen so drastically.
In the future, possible taxes will compensate for possible environmental and community-based drawbacks that could result from gas drilling.
