Range Resources brushes off questions related to Pioneer Natural Resources Acquisition

Earlier this week, Range Resources’s management team brushed off questions related to the possibility of Pioneer Natural Resources Co. potentially acquiring the company, according to Natural Gas Intelligence.
Range Resources CEO Jeff Ventura told analysts the statement Pioneer issued downplaying reports of the potential acquisition was good news for Range. Additionally, he reported the company is in a great position and doesn’t need to pursue a merger or acquisition.
Bloomberg first reported that Pioneer was considering acquiring Range Resources at the end of last week. Pioneer released a statement following the report saying it “is not contemplating a significant business combination or other acquisition transaction.”
