A report released last week by the American Petroleum Institute estimates that the shale industry provides roughly 351,000 jobs in Ohio.
Furthermore, oil and natural gas workers earn 65% more than the average worker, resulting in more than $25 billion in wages, according to the American Petroleum Institute.
The wide range of jobs the oil and gas industry supports in Ohio includes 71,160 direct industry jobs, 142,480 jobs in the service sector, 31,280 wholesale and retail jobs, 13,740 construction jobs, 27,510 transportation and warehousing jobs, 25,420 manufacturing jobs and 39,940 other jobs.
