All of the natural gas Repsol SA produces in the Marcellus Shale has earned responsibly sourced certification, according to Natural Gas Intelligence.
The company’s 400 MMcf/d production from more than 680 wells was certified under the standards set by nonprofit MiQ.
The assessment spanned six months and included methane detection flights using laser technology to detect leaks, a thorough review of the company’s practices and procedures, its leak detection and repair program and an analysis of the methane intensity.
This is an important milestone that reflects the contribution of our upstream business to achieving Repsol’s energy transition targets, including our goal to have net zero emissions by 2050,” said Repsol’s Sheldon Lillico, director of the Marcellus Business Unit.
