Akron Beacon Journal reports that the Rockies Express Pipeline went into service August 1.

The 1,698-mile pipeline begins in Opal, Wyoming, and Meeker, Colorado, east to Clarington in Monroe County, Ohio. Before, the pipeline ran west-to-east shipments. The natural gas boom in the Utica and Marcellus shales slowed these shipments. Now, the pipeline will carry natural gas from Ohio to Moultrie, Illinois, in the Chicago area.

The REX Pipeline is operated by Tallgrass Energy Partners. It will continue to ship natural gas west-to-east.
