The United States Senate approved Donald Trump’s selection to head the Department of Energy, confirming former Texas Governor Rick Perry will get the job. According to Oil and Gar Investor, Perry plans to lead oil and gas research, advance energy efficiency and renewables technology and renew the U.S. nuclear arsenal.
Perry enters the position as the longest-serving governor in Texas history after receiving a majority vote of 62 to 37 in the Senate, despite concerns from opposition.
Democrats are concerned about his ties to oil companies, his doubts about the science of climate change and his outcry to eliminate the department completely in the past.
