The Crystal and Emerald were built by Samsung, who named them Very Large Ethane Carriers, according to The Maritime Executive.
The vessels will carry liquified ethane from Enterprise Product Patners’ terminal on the Houston Ship Channel to Daheji, India were the gas will supply three Reliance petrochemical plants.
The gas supply comes from Enterprise’s Mont Belvieu fractionation complex in Texas, which is connected to production from the Marcellus and Utica Shale regions by the ATEX pipeline.
