‘Shale Crescent’ looks to attract Utica and Marcellus natural gas business

In Southeast Ohio, shale industry leaders hope to bring in manufacturers and other business while natural gas prices are low, The Columbus Dispatch reports.

Headed up by organizations such as the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce, the Southeastern Ohio Port Authority and the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program, the “Shale Crescent USA” campaign aims to draw in business to the Utica and Marcellus shale region along the Ohio River between Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Marietta, Ohio.

The name ‘Shale Crescent’ comes from the shape of a backward “C,” like a crescent moon, placed over the region and pointing back toward Columbus and Cleveland on a map of the region.
