Southwestern Energy recently expanded its foothold outside the Appalachian Basin, agreeing to buy Indigo Natural Resources in the Haynesville Shale for $2.7 billion, according to Marcellus Drilling News.
Southwestern is paying $400 million in cash and the remainder in stock. Indigo, with leases on more than 149,000 net acres, produces 1.1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas from the Haynesville and Bossier formations.
Producing over 4 Bcf/d, Southwester is one of the largest natural gas producers in the United States.
