Over the years many have studied the impacts of hydraulic fracturing on human health, focusing mainly on air and water pollution. A recent study suggests the noise associated with fracking operations can also affect human health, according to the Herald-Star.

Researchers claim fracking noise can negatively impact human health, causing annoyance, sleep disturbance and cardiovascular problems. Additionally, they claim continuous, low-decibel sounds can be as disruptive as high-decibel sounds.

Some companies working in the Upper Ohio Valley have established sound barrier walls around their operation to reduce the noise generated on their sites.
