The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has ordered Sunoco to halt construction of the Mariner East 2 pipeline across the southern part of the state due to a series of spills and other alleged violations of state law, according to the Associated Press.
The DEP has ordered Sunoco to stop work on the pipeline until it complies with the terms of its permit. Since May the DEP has issued tons of environmental violations to the company.
Sunoco has been asked to come up with a plan to fix the issues that have plagued the $2.5 billion project.
