TransCanada pushes back West Virginia Leach XPress return date

TransCanada’s Columbia Gas Transmission unit recently pushed back the date the damaged section of its Leach XPress natural gas pipeline in West Virginia will return to service, according to Kallanish Energy.
Damaged in a blast on June 7, the line was shut down to be repaired. Originally, the repairs were expected to be completed by early July. However, the restoration dated was changed to mid-July in a notice to shippers using the line on June 29.
The Leach shutdown has forced producers to find other pipelines to move gas out of the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. Alternative pipelines include Energy Transfer Partners Rover, Tallgrass Energy Partners Rockies Express, EQT Midstream Partners Equitrans and Enbridge’s Tetco.
