Upstate Pennsylvania will soon see two natural gas power plants in operation

The Patriot-News reports that upstate Pennsylvania will soon see two new natural gas power plants that can each power one million homes. Both plants are operated by Panda Power Funds of Dallas, Texas.

The Liberty plant in Towanda, Bradford County, and the Patriot plant in Montgomery, Lycoming County, are both 829-megawatt plants. One generator at the Liberty plant is running. The Patriot plant has two generators, and both have passed emissions tests.

According to the source, Panda Power Funds is converting a coal-fired plant into its third natural gas powered plant in Pennsylvania.
