The U.S. Forest Service recently gave the Mountain Valley Pipeline approval to pass through Jefferson National Forest along the West Virginia border from Monroe County to Giles County, according to WV News.
The decision only impacts 3.5 miles of the 303-mile project, but it’s another step toward completing the remaining 6% of the project.
This isn’t the first time the Forest Service has given its blessing, and once again it will have to be approved by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. The court vacated the Forest Service’s approval on Jan. 25, 2022, saying it didn’t meet federal standards. This time, the Forest Service says the pipeline is in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act.
