The eight largest domestic oil and gas plays in the United States saw flat activity in the first days of 2022, adding only one rig to reach 707 during the week ended Jan. 5, according to Enverus.
Oil rigs lost one during the week, bringing the total to 537. Natural gas rigs gained two, bringing the total to 170 during the same time period.
The domestic oil and gas rig count started 2021 at 406 rigs and gained 300 rigs over the course of the year.
