Operating the Harrison Hub natural gas fractionation facility near the village of Scio in eastern Ohio, Utica East Ohio donated $149,000 to assist in the design and construction of improvements to the water treatment plant, according to the Times Reporter.

The total cost of the project is $754,000. To help cover the local funds required to match a state grant Scio hopes to receive, Harrison County commissioners are also allocating $200,000 for the project.

Scio is working with the Ohio Mid-Eastern governments Associateion and Rural Community Assistance program to secure the grant.

The improvements will include high surface pumps, a clear well and new backwash system for the plant if Scio reeves the grant. The village expects to know the outcome sometime in February or March.
