Utica shale gas production up, oil down in Ohio

In the third quarter of 2016, Ohio’s horizontal shale wells produced 45 percent more natural gas and 34 percent less oil than during the same period in 2015, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Ohio’s shale wells produced 360,681,356 million cubic feet of natural gas this year, which increased from, 247,541,749 in the third quarter of 2015, according to Farm and Dairy. Nine of the top 10 gas-producing wells were housed in Belmont County.

Meanwhile, oil production dwindled to 3.95 million barrels with five of the top 10 oil-producing wells in Guernsey County.
