The downturn in the oil and gas industry has undoubtedly affected related sectors, including manufacturing companies. Vallourec Star, located in Youngstown, has gone through two rounds of layoffs this fall. The company produces seamless pipelines for the shale oil and gas industry.
Shale Play Ohio Valley reports that once the industry rebounds, Vallourec leaders are confident that business will pick back up for them. The company has improved productivity and has state-of-the-art equipment.
The layoffs will impact the city of Youngstown as well as Girard, where the Vallourec plant was once located.
