West Virginia production slows during natural gas slump

Fewer trucks are driving through Tyler County, West Virginia, and pump jacks for oil wells aren’t working 24/7 like they once did. According to The Montgomery Herald, most drilling companies have sent their crews home for now.

The economy is in good shape even though cheap natural gas is pushing prices downward. Lower natural gas prices have affected small businesses, and if prices dip further, even big companies will feel the sting.

In terms of demand, almost half of U.S. homes are heated with natural gas. If this winter ends up like last year’s, the natural gas industry could improve.
