Displeased with Saudi Arabia’s decision to team up with Russia and cut oil production, President Biden is re-evaluating the United States’ relationship with Saudi Arabia, according to The New York Times.

“The president’s obviously disappointed by the OPEC decision and is going to be willing to work with Congress as we think about what the right relationship with Saudi Arabia needs to be going forward,” John F. Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council at the White House, said on CNN. “The timeline’s now and I think he’s going to be willing to start to have those conversations right away,” he said. “I don’t think this is anything that’s going to have to wait or should wait quite frankly for much longer.”

Some of the measures leading Democrats have proposed are curbing American security cooperation with Saudi Arabia, including arms sales, and stripping OPEC members of their legal immunity so they can be sued for violations of American antitrust laws.
