The federal government has permitted Williams Partners to access a family’s land in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, despite the family’s fight to preserve its acreage.
The Patriot-News reports that through eminent domain, the pipeline company will be allowed to cut down maple trees on five acres of property in the path of the Constitution Pipeline which will transport Marcellus shale natural gas to New York and New England.
The family’s business relies on those trees to make and sell maple syrup and other items. According to the source, the trees will be cut down by the end of March.
