Natural gas prices increased Monday, following a winter storm that dumped 30 inches of snow in some parts of New England and ahead of another deep freeze, according to Natural Gas Intelligence.

The recent weather has ignited curtailment fears, amplified expectations for lofty storage withdrawals and sent March Nymex gas futures contract up 23.5 cents day/day to settle at $4.874. Additionally, April rose 20.2 cents to $4.675.

Monday’s gain marked the eighth day in a row for increased futures.
