NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Penn State Cooperative Extension will be holding a workshop, “Marcellus Shale – Natural Gas and You” May 20 at the Lawrence County Community Partnership Building (formerly the New Castle Ben Franklin Jr. High School), 815 Cunningham Avenue, New Castle, PA 16101.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and end at approximately 9 p.m. Speakers include Extension agents, water, and legal experts who will discuss natural gas operations, intricacies of signing a lease, and water use as they pertain to the Marcellus shale.
The cost of the workshop is $15 per person. Most prior participants of these workshops have obtained a greater understanding of the Marcellus shale and exploration and how it can affect them. This workshop is intended to inform you of the concerns you need to address as a landowner with property held within the Marcellus Shale and considering a gas lease.
