Gulfport pays American Energy Utica $407M for 35,000-plus acres

The Business Journal reports that once a deal between Gulfport Energy Corp. and American Energy – Utica LLC closes, Gulfport’s total amount of land will top 262,000 acres.

In Belmont and Jefferson counties, Gulfport bought 6,198 acres for $68.2 million. In Monroe County, the company bought 27,228 acres for $319 million.

On June 10, American Energy – Utica, LLC announced that it was changing it’s name to Ascent Resources LLC and becoming a stand-alone company from American Energy Partners.
