Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry could be affected by new methane emissions plan

The Patriot-News reports that Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry could be affected by new methane emissions rules, first announced by the Obama administration at the beginning of the year.

Methane is the main component of natural gas. President Obama plans to reduce methane emissions from shale wells by about 50 percent in the next 10 years to improve air quality and climate change.

The newspaper lists five items related to this methane emissions plan and how they could impact Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry.
