Rice Energy has begun drilling a Utica well in western Greene County, Pennsylvania, according to Pittsburgh Business Times.

In Ohio, Rice has explored the Utica Shale in Belmont County. The wells there average 15.5 million to 16 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. Rice believes that the Utica Shale in Greene County is similar to that of Belmont County.

Rice expects production at the Greene County well by the fourth quarter of this year.
