The wastewater treatment complex planned for Doddridge County, West Virginia, is raising concerns about radioactive waste.
WDTV 5 News reports that the Antero Resources plant is expected to create hundreds of jobs and generate $1.5 million in tax revenue for the county.
However, West Virginia does not currently regulate or enforce radioactive waste disposal. The Marcellus Shale is high in radioactive materials, compared to other shales. Effects on drinking water and concerns about the wastewater recycling process have citizens questioning the facility.
