The conclusion of an air monitoring study that intended to determine the safety of living and breathing near Marcellus shale sites in Pennsylvania is well behind schedule, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette PowerSource reports.
The state Department of Environmental Protection announced in 2012 that it would conduct a year-long study of pollutants from gas compressors and MarkWest Energy Partners’ gas processing plant in Houston, Pennsylvania. After the 365 days of data collection, and the final report was supposed to be ready in 90 days after that.
The study of the processing plant wasn’t completed until 2014, and for over a year, the results of the study have been given to various administrations, due to questions on the study and the sheer volume of data collected.
