A shut down injection well in northeast Ohio may be back in operation.

This possibility brought out protesters to the site in Coitsville Township, Mahoning County, reports. Injection wells have been thought to trigger small earthquakes near well sites. In 2011, a series of earthquakes was detected near the Northstar #1 well in Youngstown, so Ohio Gov. John Kasich ordered a moratorium on injection wells within a five mile radius.

Injection wells dispose of contaminated wastewater from oil and gas drilling. According to the source, there are five injection wells in Mahoning County and 17 in Trumbull County.
