Shale gas industry doing well in Marshall County, West Virginia

At the bottom of West Virginia’s northern panhandle, Marshall County is a hotbed of shale gas activity. With pipelines, processing plants and wells, the area is growing.

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that projects in the region, as well as across the river in Ohio and in Pennsylvania, will bring jobs to the area. Temporary out-of-state workers have been brought in, but the gas operations don’t require as many workers as they do during construction.

Marshall County is part of the Wheeling metropolitan area, which was recently found to be the fifth-fastest growing economy in the United States.
