When the smokestack at the former R.E. Burger Plant is demolished this morning, shockwaves might be felt up to five miles away, reports The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register. The location is the site for an ethane cracker proposed by Thailand-based PTT Global Chemical.

The concrete smokestack that will be demolished is 854 feet tall. The weight is unknown. The explosives used to bring the smokestack down will cause more of the shockwaves than the smokestack’s collapse.
