Charleston-based Columbia Pipeline Group has asked several West Virginia county leaders about tax deals for two compressor stations for its proposed Mountaineer XPress Pipeline project, according to Charleston Gazette-Mail.

Columbia Pipeline Group has asked leaders of Doddridge, Calhoun and Jackson counties for payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT), which would allow the company to make annual payments instead of paying property taxes.

Although no deals have been made yet, PILOT agreements would generate less money for the local governments.
