Columbia Pipeline is looking to move gas from the Utica and Marcellus shale plays in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, Columbus Business First reports.

The Mountaineer Xpress pipeline project would cost $2 billion and could be completed and online by November 2018. In 2017, construction on 171 miles of pipeline and three compressor stations could begin, as well as modifications to existing compressor stations.

The pipeline will be built from Marshall County, West Virginia, to Cabell County, West Virginia. The pipeline’s transmission system could transport 2.7 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.

In July 2015, NiSource Inc. and Columbia Pipeline Group became independent companies. NiSource is the parent company of Columbia Gas of Ohio.
