Central and southwestern Columbiana County are hotspots for Utica wells

In Columbiana County, Ohio, Utica Shale drilling hotspots are in the central and southwestern portions of the county, according to The Business Journal.

Franklin, Hanover and Center townships have some of Columbiana County’s most prolific wells, based on second quarter reports. Two Franklin Township wells produced more than 1.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas during the second quarter of 2015 alone. Several other wells in the township produced hundreds of millions of feet of natural gas during the second quarter.

In Hanover Township, the two leading natural gas wells produced 449.3 million cubic feet and 304 million cubic feet, respectively. The top Center township wells fell behind Hanover, with 249.1 million cubic feet and 217.7 million cubic feet produced, respectively.
