Obama administration rules out Keystone XL

On Nov. 6, President Obama’s administration rejected the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would have transported crude oil from Alberta, Canada’s oil fields and onto Montana and South Dakota before connecting with existing pipeline infrastructure in Nebraska. The oil would then be transported to the Gulf Coast.

USA Today reports that environmentalists were in favor of the decision, stating that the pipeline would have impacted Americans’ health, but some labor unions say that the pipeline would have created much-needed jobs. The pipeline could show up in next year’s Presidential campaign.
