Herald-Star reports that the Jefferson County Educational Service Center awarded the Utica Shale Academy a $550 grant to provide students with the career readiness opportunities.
The Best Practice Grant will be used to purchase Ohio Utica shale maps, pipeline infrastructure maps and Utica and Marcellus shale maps for Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The maps will help students stay up-to-date on oil and gas activity in the region as they prepare to enter the industry.
This is the first time that the Utica Shale Academy applied for the grant. JCESC $12,100 in 22 grants to school districts in the county.
