The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has granted Royal Dutch Shell an air quality permit for the company’s proposed ethane cracker plant in Monaca, Pennsylvania, according to The Business Journal.
Shell’s project, called the Shell Chemical Appalachia LLC, has also received its stormwater discharge permit and a water obstruction and encroachment permit.
The air permit was approved June 18 and allows Shell to emit 2.25 million tons of carbon dioxide per year. It expires June 18, 2019.
