Last month, Nexus Gas Transmission filed paperwork with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to move forward with its proposed Nexus Pipeline project.

Akron Beacon Journal reports that as of December 18, the Ontario Energy Board has approved applications for 15-year contracts with the Nexus Pipeline for two Ontario companies. According to the newspaper, approval from the board is a crucial regulatory step for the pipeline, pipeline developers and potential customers.

The Nexus Pipeline would originate in Columbiana County and stretch to northwest Ohio, then on to the Detroit, Michigan, area where existing pipelines would carry the natural gas to Ontario, the midwest and the Gulf Coast.
