In order for the ethane cracker plant planned for Monaca, Pennsylvania, to be built, Shell Chemical Co. has to pay for some projects.
According to The Business Journal, a water intake site has to be relocated and a new water treatment plant must be built for Center Township. Shell will pay Center Township Water Authority $69 million to relocate the water intake site.
Earlier this year, Shell purchased the land in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and was granted an air quality permit from the Department of Environmental Protection. However, there has been no final decision made to the public about the plant.
